Firefighting is the heart of what we do…
In 1944 our fire company was founded with the primary purpose of providing fire protection. In that time our mission and service offerings has expanded, but fire suppression continues to be the heart of what we do. While the concepts remain the same the technology continues to grow and evolve. Today we utilize the latest in technology from thermal imaging cameras to Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS).
Covering the Parkway and Beyond
We provide an all encompassing service from assisting at vehicle accidents, providing accident victim extrication (sometimes with the Jaws of Life), assisting with water rescue operations, and providing rescue services in a variety of circumstances.
Responding to Medical Emergencies
We are dispatched along with Columbia County EMS agencies in our coverage district to severe medical emergencies where a patient is in respiratory arrest or cardiac arrest (Echo level EMS Calls). Other times we may be requested to the scene of an EMS call for lifting assistance, moving a patient in a complex situation or preparing a helicopter landing zone so a patient can be quickly transported to Albany Med.
We are Active in Town
Even when we aren't fighting fires, assisting an accident or helping at a medical emergencies you may see us representing our Fire Co. at a parade, assisting at a charity walk, race or marathon in town, providing a fundraiser like pizza night or a breakfast, or assisting with fire prevention duties at the school. Our volunteers dedicate countless hours to responding to calls, and many additional hours to community service.
